With its Business Unit Steering, thyssenkrupp is one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of steering systems, and is the technology leader in the field of massive cold forming.
Overall, a total of approx. 10,900 employees worldwide work in 24 plants and development facilities in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Mexico, Brazil, the USA, China and Japan. Steering systems for more than 30 million vehicles per year are developed and produced. Eschen in Liechtenstein has approx. 2,500 employees, and is the core of the Business Unit. The automotive environment is being shaped by autonomous driving, connectivity and powertrain electrification. In Liechtenstein, the team is focused on helping to shape these megatrends. In future, too, they will pick up new development trends in the fields of chassis and steering, and bring them to market readiness. On the basis of these steering technologies, work is further progressing on development projects such as steer-by-wire and the further development of steering assist systems as the preliminary stage to autonomous driving.
